Lead story: SOPA (Stop Online Piracy Act)

The news this week is a little more serious. SOPA, the Stop Online Piracy Act, was introduced into the House of Representatives last month. The bill aims to… well, stop online piracy.

Proponents of the bill include The Motion Picture Association of America, U.S. Chamber of Commerce, and surprisingly the International Association of Firefighters, who say that piracy saps the tax dollars that support emergency services.

Opponents of the bill include Google, Facebook, and a variety of progressive groups who say the bill limits freedom of speech to tea party groups who say it makes the government’s reach too vast.

Ramblin Jackson’s Really Remarkable Report: Higher heels = bad economy…

Did you know that the size of a woman’s high heels is an indicator of the health of our economy? According to an IBM report, people tend to compensate with flashier fashions during times of economic downturn.  Higher heels, fancier dresses and flashy suits.  The good news is that IBM’s report shows that women are buying more sensible shoes, which could mean that the economy is improving. But what I wonder is why is IBM studying women’s stilettos…

Pro Tip: Constant Contact’s Mobile App, QuickView

This week’s pro tip is for those of you using Constant Contact for your email marketing. Constant Contact has a really great mobile app called “QuickView” that allows you to import new contacts from your phone. These means that you can add new contacts when you’re out on the fly. Maybe you’re at a networking event and someone asks to join your newsletter, you can add them right there! Save some cards.
