Welcome to the 20th feature of Friday’s Informal Facebook Films!
You know, if this were a 20th wedding anniversary we would give the gift of fine china. That would be expensive… and China doesn’t have Facebook…
Ramblin Jackson’s Techie Gift Idea – Earbuds
Today we have our our final techie gift idea, and here is Chris Woodley with the scoop:
Chris: Thanks, Jack. You know, quality sound is a very subjective… subject. But few will deny there are good ear buds, and then there are those that should have never been made. There’s also all different styles. In our opinion, the in-ear-canal buds deliver the best possible sound, and they have the added benefit of blocking out unwanted external noises like maybe that family member who knows everything. Here are our top three picks based on price.
1) Etymotic hf3 – $179.99
Most reviewers agree these earbuds are among the best, but they’re also 180 bucks so they should be. They do feature stellar fit, high-tech looks, and amazing sound. They also feature an in-line mic and buttons on the cable to control your phone or audio player.
2) Klipsch S4 – $79.99
For a mid-range option, we recommend the Klipsch S4 earbuds. These are actually the ones I use, and they’re great at blocking out unwanted sounds while I’m editing. They also have the fidelity to enjoy the full spectrum of music, and they allow me to experience the true tonal quality of Jack’s voice. They’re priced a slightly more reasonable $80.
3) Skullcandy Ink’d – $19.99
Finally, for those on a budget, we strongly recommend Skullcandy and their Ink’d earbuds. They have great sound with good bass and a comfortable fit, and best of all, they’re only about 20 bucks at most retailers.
All of these options that we’ve highlighted today are available at your local Best Buy, and all of them are going to be much better than the ones that ship with your smartphone or your audio player. So, load up your favorite holiday tunes and enjoy.
Ramblin Jackson’s Remarkable Report – Lost Dogs Illinois
This week’s remarkable report is for all you dog people out there. This tip was submitted by my mother, Patti Jostes, dog enthusiast.
Lost Dogs Illinois, a non-profit in Illinois, helps animal lovers find their lost pets through Social Media. Their Facebook Page has several useful custom iFrame tabs including a Lost Dog Report form, a Lost Dog Action Plan, and tons of useful tips for people who have lost their pets.
Pro Tip – Join a Trade Exchange
Our pro tip for small businesses this week is to join a trade exchange if you haven’t already. A trade exchange is a great way to save cash and still get the things you need. We’re a member of Community Connect Trade Association, and it’s helped us tremendously in 2011.
We’ve used our CCTA currency this year to:
- cater our ribbon cutting
- hire our phenomenal attorney
- our CPA who has helped us with our taxes
- and a ton of personal expenses like hotels, restaurants, and even airport parking at DIA!
Happy Holidays!
That’s all the time we have for today. We hope you have a great week and a happy holiday season, and we look forward to seeing you next year!
Thoughts? We’d love it if you’d comment below or on Facebook!

Love the lost pet page on Facebook — I’ll suggest that one to my vet network.
