Happy Friday! Wow, December came in with a wallop, huh? We hope you had a great Thanksgiving, ate lots of turkey and have recovered. ‘Tis the season for holiday parties and eating. We recommend pants with an extend-o waistband…
Introducing our NEW Holiday Segment – Ramblin Jackson’s Techie Gift Ideas!
With everyone seemingly now using touchscreen devices, it can sometimes be frustrating – and cold – when using them outdoors during the winter. You might’ve already discovered you can’t use most touchscreen devices with gloves on. What to do? Well, thankfully, this year seems to be the year of touchscreen-capable gloves! While there are many options available at all sorts of price points, according to several recent studies the winner for accuracy, fit and comfort is: Agloves! They have three models, ranging in price from $18 to $24. Check ‘em out for your favorite…touchy person.
Ramblin Jackson’s Really Remarkable Report: Touch screen gloves!
Ever wonder what people are really looking at on your social media profiles? EyeTrackShop – a company that runs eye-tracking studies for advertisers – did and they collaborated on a study with social media news site Mashable. The results are quite interesting!
Pictures matter! Study participants – who were recorded by their computer’s webcams for later analysis – really liked to look at pictures. And the higher the pictures were on the screen/page, the better. And for professional sites like LinkedIn, your job title gets a lot of views; even more than your profile picture in that case. Finally, who you know seems to get a lot of attention. So remember, while you can’t choose your family, you CAN pick your friends. Choose wisely!
The imagery part of the study reinforces something we tell our clients all the time. If you have great photos or – even better – a video on your site, don’t bury it down the page or on some other page! Put it up front and in their face! People like to look a pictures and videos, but most won’t go searching for them!
Pro tip – R.S.V.P.
This week’s pro tip is for those of you creating invitations on behalf of your family or business this holiday season. R.S.V.P. is derived from the French phrase répondez s’il vous plaît, which in English means Respond if you please. Writing “Please R.S.V.P.” is not only incorrect, it sounds desperate…
When you’re making your invitations, just use R.S.V.P.
That’s all the time we have for today. We hope you have a great weekend, and if you go to any holiday parties, remember… extend-o waistbands!

I love me the extendo-waistbands! I’m gonna go for one with a fleece Star Trek print! That and a mistletoe hat the season will be ringin’ in!
